"Sleuth"
A play by Anthony Shaffer

The ultimate cat and mouse game is played out by two men who try to outsmart each other. Each a genius at role and game playing, they set upon destroying each other's lives. The play takes place in the home of one of them. He is a collector of unusual items and artifacts. One piece that stands in his game room is the figure of "Captain Jolly Jack Tar, The Jovial Sailor". A fun house mechanical figure that laughs and raises a mug of beer as he rocks back and forth. This is a very important prop, since the final clue to the mystery is tied up with it. Our Captain Jack comes seated on a wood pier setting and must be worked from behind a wall. The figures laughs, lifts his mug, and his eyes raise into his head when his mouth opens. A truly eerie and frightening figure from a demented fun house.
